FRESH

The Palm Beach Collection

By Mimi & Brooke

Valley Forge Fabrics, Inc. debuted the second FRESH collection to overwhelming enthusiasm at the Hospitality Design Boutique Exposition and Conference in Miami on September 18th. One of the two new FRESH collections that launched was created by Palm Beach Designers Mimi McMakin and Brook Huttig.  In this FRESH collection patterns are available in 100% Post Consumer Recycled Polyester and 100% Post Industrial Recycled Polyester and mixtures of both.

In 1974, Mimi Maddock McMakin began her design career With Jessup, Inc, one of the first design firms in Palm Beach. She continued there until opening Kemble Interiors, a full-service decorating and design firm, in 1982.

Brooke Wendel Huttig's influence as a designer came at an early age from her mother, Jane Wendel, with whom she worked for twenty-five years. Mrs. Wendel was a prominent designer to the Palm Beach clients of the Kennedy era.

This design duo joined forces in 1987 and have been a team ever since. They are responsible for the design and decoration of countless hotels, clubs, homes and yachts all over the world. Their work and design advice is regularly featured in House Beautiful, Elle Decor, Veranda, Architectural Digest, Southern Accents, Florida Design, House and Garden. They have also been listed for years among House Beautiful's "Top 100 Designers."

"This collection is innovative and beautiful.  It's hard to believe this is recycled product" says Cliff Tuttle, Sr. Vice President of Forrest Perkins.  "Valley Forge has really hit one out of the park with their FRESH collection.  By having a truly sustainable product with cutting-edge patterns and colors that can be customized, designers can offer their clients choices which are environmentally responsible."

Valley Forge is developing an interactive environmental contribution program for release in late 2008.  Customers will be able to select from a list of screened environmental charities and a portion of all sales of FRESH fabrics will be donated per yard sold to each of these specific organizations.
