F.R.E.S.H.
Fabrics Redefining Environmental Standards (for) Hospitality™:
The trademark owned by Valley Forge Fabrics, Inc. As the
acronym implies,
FRESH
fabrics are made from synthetic yarns derived from
post-industrial and post-consumer recycled products which are
made at a low impact manufacturing platform. FRESH
fabrics are 100% recycled content - no blends. Because
of their unique construction
FRESH
fabrics are recyclable and there is a
established reclamation
service that will transport
FRESH
fabrics to a recycling facility at the end of their life
cycle. This radical departure from traditional disposal is
aimed at further
protecting the environment by alleviating mounting pressure on
landfill capacity. |
|
 |
|
FRESH
fabrics can be identified by
the "recycle symbol F" on
every
piece of finished product the
fabric is used for. |

When the program was first developed 3 years ago, we decided
that Valley Forge needed one major benchmark to make the
greatest environmental impact that we could. Using post
consumer and post industrial recycled polyester is a major
step, but Valley Forge recognizes that this is just step 1 in
what should be a fully closed loop process.

We are the only textile company to date that has a reclamation
program in place to facilitate the recycling of all
FRESH products. Making a
recyclable product is important, but without offering our
process, hotels will have no way to actually recycle. We will
take back FRESH product
and recycle it for various end uses that today’s technologies
allow. We currently recycle FRESH
product into blankets, foam for pillows, plastics for
car interiors, and other various plastics in the open market.
We are working hard to develop the possibility of up-cycling
textiles back into textiles, but we are a few years from this
point as of today.
Since this recycling will save literally millions of pounds
from entering landfills after use, we view a recyclable fabric
program extremely important as it will obviously divert even
greater amounts from simply being thrown away.
